Music Video Target Audiences Questionnaire Results analysis (Chris)

For our music video we wanted to make sure that we could ask a equal number of boys and girls to make sure that all of the information we gathered was fair and would represent our target audience the best. We had asked 5 boys and 3 girls, which unfortunate was the best that we could do when we were conducting the questionnaire. if we were to conduct this questionnaire again we would make suer that we could find a few more females to ask to make sure that it is fully equal. The people that we had asked were of the age from 10 to 30. We really like this age range and we feel that we had gotten the best ages as its a few years under our target audience and a few years older. This means that we got a very large range of people opinions in our target audience and we also have a few outside our age range to get a feel of what other people are thinking. If we were to complete this again I would want to get one more questionnaire completed by a female above the age of 20.

When we conducted the questionnaire we wanted to make sure that we had enough information to make sure that we can create the best music video possible that would be attracted to our target audience. We wanted to make sure that we added images in the video that people expect to see. Firstly we asked the question:

What do you expect to see from an indie rock band?

The purpose of this question was to try to find some generic footage we could get which would help make our work look a lot more professional and a lot more recognisable by our audience. From this we got quite a few varied comments however we tried to incorporate them all to make one idea.

Here are a few answers we had gotten:

Maybe slow paced shots and editing, Dark colours and mainly performances based.

From the feedback we had gotten from this question we had a lot of shots at the beginning which we had slowed down and that we had varied shots which start with a lot of light in the scene as well as a large fire and as the piece progresses, the light starts to fade and that the fire starts to die down.

A second question which we had gotten was:

How would a music video target your age group?

From this question we wanted to find out what things people find attractive about music videos so we can incorporate them into our video. If we incorporate things that people like in our video, hopefully it will make our product more liked when it comes to people viewing our product.

Some of the results we got were:

Footage that cuts to the beat and bright colours.

From the feedback we had gotten from the questionnaire we decided to include some cutting to the beat and bright colours to try to attract our target audience.
